adidas Tyshawn II | Shoe Review
The Tyshawn II is here. The well deserved second pro model from Tyshawn Jones and adidas will not give you the pop to skate your local train tracks, but you can at least look like the king of NY. We recently met up with Tactics team rider, Faith Doudna, and put the Tyshawn IIs to the test. Watch the video for Faith’s breakdown, after a solid three hours of skating at the adidas HQ.
True to Size
The first thing Faith noticed about the Tyshawn IIs is the fit. She usually wears a 7/7.5, and the size 7 fit perfectly. There was a slight break-in period, typical in a cupsole with a premium leather upper. However, the initial stiffness went away, and the shoes molded to her feet very quickly.
Grippy and Ready to Roll
Let's talk traction – a crucial element for any skate shoe. The Tyshawn IIs come with a multi-directional herringbone tread pattern on the outsole, essential for the foot adjustments Faith needed for a flip-trick heavy session.
Comfort for Everyday
While the Tyshawn II excels as a skate shoe, its comfort factor makes it a great choice for your days off the board. The Lightstrike midsole, a technology borrowed from adidas' running shoes, provides ample cushioning and impact absorption. This shoe passed Faith's official primo test.
Aesthetics: Classic with a Modern Twist
The Tyshawn IIs boast a clean and classic silhouette reminiscent of 80's basketball shoes, and Faith did some balling to put them to the test (see video above.) The perforated toe box adds a nice touch of breathability, while the dual-layered toe cap reinforces durability – a big plus for skaters who put their shoes through a beating. The signature adidas stripes with reflective accents offer a subtle yet stylish touch.
The Verdict
Overall, the Tyshawn IIs impressed Faith. They're comfortable, stylish, and built to last. Whether you're an aspiring SOTY, or simply looking for a versatile shoe for everyday wear, the Tyshawn IIs are definitely worth considering.
