Most skate shoes out there are seemingly designed to bind your feet into worthless unusable meat slabs. If you really need a wide skate shoe look at the 272 or 574 vulc. The 440 wides are still a bit too narrow for me but I could see them as a good shoe for someone needing something slightly wider than a regular size but find themselves swimming in a proper 2e shoe. 5 stars for quality, style, and the fact that New Balance actually puts in the effort to make wide skate shoes. It is so nice to skate and have be able to move your toes.

I love that there is an actual skate shoe in a wide size. These didn't need to stretch to feel good on my feet that are wide at the ball / foot shaped (I like Lems for most shoes). The heel cup isn't super loose like some shoes that are wide all over instead of just in the front. As a skate shoe they feel great to me, coming off another cupsole. I've only had a few pairs of skate shoes but know that Mitchie Brusco of skateiQ skates the 440 so that's as good an endorsement as I need. The grip isn't quite what the Michelin soles of my last couple pairs were, but it's solid.
