"Saving Daylight" | Tactics Fall 2024 Skate Trip

Who the hell plans a central Oregon skate trip in November?

Total darkness by 5pm, constant rain showers looming on the radar, and the risk of weekday bust spots had us writing this trip off before it even began. We saw a rare window of opportunity in the forecast and with the generator rented, fried skater schedules aligned, and Airbnb’s booked, there was no turning back... With hope on our side and The Prodigy’s “Breathe” on constant rotation, the Tactics team hopped in the van and brought it back to where it all began – Eugene, OR.

When we got to Eugene we were met with the expected...

Rain and wet, mossy ground. After a quick stop at the Eugene Shop and WJ we linked up with “Tim from Tactics” and trekked to a different spot under a bridge. This thing might look fun and easy but the combination of rain mist, mud, tall drop, and short run up made this spot sketchier than Scotty's notebook. As the day went on the ground dried up and businesses closed up shop. We got lucky and spent some time at a classic Eugene bump over bar before calling it a night.

Tuesdays, am I right?!

Apparently businesses don't appreciate it when you take the time to sweep and clean their walkways to make a spot skateable. David squeezed in a front blunt before we got the boot from a Karen in training. All part of the game.

We ended the Eugene leg of the trip

hitting a spot that we rub bricked the day before. Street Kev came through with the clip but not after a few hefty slams off the curb. An extra layer of cardboard on the landing was all he needed to roll out into the darkness of the night. Full of Dominos Pizza that was delivered to the spot and tired from a long day of skating, we packed up and loaded in the van. Next stop, Bend.

We ended the trip on a high note

with a sundown session at the Sisters Skatepark. Kowalksi put on a one man demo and we had some fun lapping the park before heading back to Portland and.. real life.

Shout out to the crew for a non-stop 2.5 day trip - be sure to peep the edit by the homie Isaiah Boughn. Until next time!
