State Footwear Salem Skate Shoes Wear Test Review
We recently added State Footwear to our long list of skate shoe brands. State's goal has always been to provide skateboarders with comfortable, durable yet affordable shoes. They're everything that a skater-owned and operated company should be, so we couldn't wait to get them on our feet.
Tactics team rider Danny Maretz took a pair of the Salem Skate Shoes on a road trip to San Diego to catch some rips over spring break. They were good to skate right out of the box. No frilly features, just a back-to-basics shoe focused on performance. The high top construction adds extra ankle protection and support while the polyurethane footbed provides impact protection without sacrificing board feel. The sole has a classic herringbone pattern with reinforced rubber in the high-wear areas of the heel and toe. Other than going through four sets of laces and a busting a hole in the canvas ollie area, the shoes held up well after nearly a full month of heavy skating. If you're looking for extra durability, grab the full suede version. Overall, the shoes were exactly as advertised: comfy, durable and affordable. For the skaters, by the skaters.
