Justin Norman's Summer at Windells

This summer marked my eighth summer working on Hood and my fifth summer working for Windell’s camp. I felt very accomplished going into this summer because I graduated with a bachelor’s degree from OSU-Cascades in June and had a low-key job lined up digging the Windell’s terrain park. Some of my summer highlights involved summiting Mt. Hood with my good friend and co-worker William Dennis, camping on the glacier for three nights, and contributing towards one of the best terrain parks in the pacific northwest. I was so excited to be back up at Hood for another progressive summer shredding and working with a new digger crew, although I missed having my OG diggers on deck. Getting photos with my fellow co-worker Chip Proulx was such a blast because he was always stoked to get quality shots. Check him out!

bw-indy-slash

Indy grab snake run slash: One of my favorite features was the snake run under the Palmer lift because it was such a fun time charging through it as fast as you can. Slash and grab!

down-flat-indy-tail-bone

50-50 to Indy Del Mar: This was one of the most intimidating features. Worst-case scenario was always on my mind, but once I got a few tricks I was satisfied.

stalefish-lipslide

Stalefish lipslide: I am a huge fan of gapping into rails, so this was the perfect opportunity to catch some air and a stalefish. This was one of my favorite shots from the summer.

270-boardslide-270-out

Back 270 to 270 out: Honestly, I am usually not one to spin hard-way. Since this feature was a pretty mellow setup, I felt like it was a perfect opportunity to try something new.

gap-270-down-rail

Gap Front 270: Gapping this feature was the highlight of my summer hands down! I asked all summer for this setup and once I got this shot, I went for broke trying to backside rodeo onto this rail…fractured my spine unfortunately.

cross-gorilla

Indy Crisscross on the QP: It doesn’t get much better than shredding in board shorts and shades when it’s ninety degrees out. Don’t forget your sunscreen in this high UV zone!

switch-back-lip

Switch backlip on the C-rail: A group of the diggers hiked this feature for hours, and it was so rad getting a session going with friends and pushing each other to try different tricks.

handplant

Handplant nosegrab: We camped out this night and made the best of it by chasing the sunlight as it set. This was the last attempt before the light went to crap.

boardslide-massive-drop

Noseslide to drop: Talk about a heavy feature to build and to session! Our digger crew spent so much time putting this together and digging it in, but it was one of the most progressive setups we built.
