HUF Dylan Slip-On Skate Shoes Wear Test Review
It may look like a dress shoe, but the HUF Dylan Slip-On skates like a dream. Even we a little skeptical at first, but the followers wanted a wear test, so we got them on the feet of Tactics team rider Gabe Nelson. Its thin vulcanized construction broke in quickly for out of the box board feel, but the all leather upper made the flick feel slippery at first. Gabe complained a bit, but it didn't seem to hold him back. All the clips in the video were filmed during his first session in the shoes. Once the leather began to wear, its grip improved greatly. If you want to avoid the initial slickness, get the black on white suede version.
Because of its low profile design, Gabe recommends the Dylan Slip for more technical, lower impact skating. While offerring excellent board feel, they don't provide much impact protection. If you like to skate larger gaps and stair sets, you may want to swap to a more supportive after market insole.
Gabe really enjoyed the overall fit and function of the slip on design. They're good to go as soon as you roll out of bed, and you never have to deal with ripped laces. Large elastic bands secure the shoe around your foot for a snug fit. After a month of skating, the upper and the ousole are beginning to wear through, but the shoes fit just as well as they did on day one.
