eS Swift 1.5 Skate Shoe Wear Test Review

Slip into eS Swift 1.5 and relive the glory days with this 90’s inspired skate shoe. The Swift 1.5 combines a classic skate shoe style with top of the line quality for all terrain skating. This cupsole shoe is built with a Thermothane toe cap and an STI molded Energy Foam footbed to provide all-day comfort and support. To test the durability, we had team rider Tim McCoy beat them up and see how they lasted.

When he first laced them up, he was stoked on the hidden lace loops because he breaks so many shoelaces. The shoes were a little stiff at first but within the first hour the shoes loosened up and provided enough board feel for flip tricks. Tim says that they fit true to size, but may be snug on the side for skaters with wide feet like him. After a day or so, the shoe stretched enough for a comfortable fit.

Tim skates for about an hour or so a day and goes on street missions on the weekends, and after a solid month of skating, the shoes are still going strong. The Thermothane toe cap wore through and a small rip developed on the tip of the shoe in the middle of the fourth week. The herringbone tread on the ball of the foot and big toe wore down, but never developed a bald spot. With the hidden lace loops, the laces lasted the entire time and only broke once on the top eyelet. In addition to the lasting laces, the STI foam didn't pack out and still provide sufficient impact protection. Overall the shoes held up very well and Tim is going to keep on skating them for a while.
