eS SLB Skate Shoes Wear Test Review
Salvdor Lucas Barbier has always had an eye for style and functionality, so it's no surprise that eS is re-issuing all of his pro models. Originally designed and released in 1996, the SLB was the second pro model from Sal and the first to feature an internal neoprene sockliner, designed to keep your foot snug and secure while giving you increased support.
Our team rider and customer service rep, James Sisneroz, skated three pairs of the SLB this spring and compared it to a "suped-up version of the Accel Slim Mid." His initial reaction was that the sockliner was rather tight out of the box, but broke in over time. He thought that the sockliner would make his feet sweat profusely but this was not the case. Due to the leather panels, he felt that the shoe was pretty stiff out of the box with a longer than average break-in period but offered long lasting support.
James' only complaint was that the leather panels don't extend into the sole, so when the stitching started to blow the whole toe came with it. Some well placed Shoe-Goo would have been an easy fix, but he wanted to see exactly how the shoe would hold up without it. If you mostly skate flatground and love to flip your board, the SLB may not be your most durable option, but each pair James skated lasted him for over a month. James recommends the eS SLB to any type of skater because of its great board feel, protection, and style. Click the link below to get yourself a pair!
