Emerica Figgy Dose Wear Test & Review With Justin Figueroa

The Emerica Figgy has been one of our favorite skate shoes for years, so we had to get all the details when heard about the Figgy Dose. We sat down with Justin Figueroa to go behind the scenes on the design process and find out why he's so excited about the new model. He wanted to keep a similar feel and shape but worked with Emerica lead designer Paul Kwon to upgrade the outsole and midsole construction with G6 foam and the new Formula G outsole. Spoiler alert, he's stoked.

Of course the guy with is name on the shoe is hyped, so we had to get them on our feet see for ourselves. Tactics team rider Dalton Dern slipped on a pair and skated them hard for three days at Woodward Tahoe before filming his review. The internal lycra liner fit the shoes snugly around his feet, so he didn't even lace them up until the second week of skating.

The full length G6 midsole provided comfort and support for long sessions without feeling too thick underfoot. It's also the first shoe to feature Emerica's new Formula G outsole, a new rubber compound with superior grip and durability. The outsole also has an upgraded Flex Channel tread pattern that allows each tread triangle to move independently. When we got them on our feet, we could really feel the difference in grip and flexibility. We're looking forward to seeing this outsole tech show up in future models.

It's safe to say, the Figgy Dose passed our wear test. We'd recommend them to just about any type of skater. There's enough support for big tricks with great board feel for getting tech. With clean looking upper, slip-on fit, strong durability, and excellent grip, you've got a winning combination.
