DC Wes Kremer 2 S Skate Shoes Wear Test Review
Wes Kremer's second pro model just dropped for DC Shoes, and we couldn't pass up the opportunity to test them out, so we got a pair on the feet of Tactics warehouse hustler Tim McCoy. Wes' new shoe draws many similarities to his previous model, but the upper has been redesigned to fit and function more like a slip-on. One large panel forms the entire toe and tongue, while elastic bands are used to secure the tongue area to the base of the shoe for a comfortably snug fit without needing laces. What sets the Wes Kremer 2 apart from standard slip-ons is that it also offers a small lace harness with two eyelets for a tighter adjustable fit.
The shoe also features a very flexible vulcanized construction with DC's Impact S insole. Tim found that the shoe broke in quickly and molded to the shape of his foot for natural board feel. The insole is thin and flexible, but is made from a high rebound material that doesn't pack out, and offers a surprising amount of comfort and support. The shoes provided ample impact protection for Tim, who mostly skates ledges, manny pads, and flat ground. They aren't as beefy and protective and some thicker cup sole shoes, but Wes Kremer has shown us that they can still hold up to some hefty gaps.
Durability is important to every skater, and Wes did not let us down. DC's super suede lived up to its name, and the abrasion resistant printed toe cap provided an additional layer of durability in the areas that take the most abuse. Tim's skate style is very flip trick heavy, and after three weeks of hard skating, the shoes still have plenty of life left. The toe and sole are showing wear, but no holes have formed. Surprisingly, Tim was still able to tear up his laces even though the lace loops are set high and away from the typical high wear areas. Luckily, the slip-on style construction held his feet in place, and he was still able to salvage enough lace to cinch up a lace loop.
