Overview

The Etnies Marana skate shoes are made to endure the harsh realities of skateboarding with a fused-on, injected rubber toe cap and impact-resistant STI Evolution Foam midsole that won't pack out. The outsole is constructed of 400 NBS rubber in a tried and true tread. These are the only shoes that Chris Joslin skates, so you know that they're quality.

Features

Sole

Cupsole - Durable and shock-absorbing to provide the best impact protection against hard landings. Cupsoles generally last longer than a vulcanized sole but don't provide as much flexibility and board feel right out of the box.

Details

Pro Foam 1 Insole - Pro Foam is the next step up from the Foam Lite insole and provides added cushioning and support while skating. These PU foam based insoles also provide great comfort. Pro Foam 1 is made of single density PU foam.

PU Rubberized Toe Cap - Added durability where your shoe needs it most, this polyurethane material helps protect your shoes from the constant abuse you throw at it.

Gum Rubber Outsole - Made from 400 NBS Gum Rubber giving the shoe long lasting, durable grip.

STI Evolution™ Foam - STI Evolution™ Foam replaces EVA, PU, and heavy rubber with a durable, impact resistant, and ultra lightweight cushioning foam that can be used as a single solution for the midsole and outsole of skate shoes.

Etnies Marana Michelin Skate Shoes - navy/white
It holds up well and is very snug and comfy. it has a hidden lacing system which is very helpful and the sole has not wore down after hardcore skating for 1 month. no blowout on the toe but if you do a lot of 180s it dose wear down depding which model u get cuz the one I got had a weird rubber and exactly where I do my 180s is where the seam between the rubber and sude is. Great shoe tho aside from that and has great impact. Would be a great shoe purchase.

Etnies Marana Mid Skate Shoes - navy/white/gum
Fit true to size. Love the padded tongue, and hidden lace protector loops. The tread on the bottom has just the right amount of grip, and is very durable compared to skateshoes that I'm used to( Vans, Lakai, Supra) I was worried that that the tread on the bottom would be slick like my Lakai Riley 2's, but nope!
After about 5 sessions, you can barely tell that rubber toe cap is starting to get wear ( WAY better than I expected!) the suede upper still looks brilliant and clean. If I can find these on sale again next time I need new skate shoes, these are definitely first pick. FYI, I only wear these to skate, not day to day walking.

Etnies Marana Michelin Skate Shoes - burgundy/tan/white
The marana is a very durable shoe. The rubber toe cap and suede last a very long time, and after that, the layer behind them is also very durable. The Michelin sole is the most durable in the game, great for those who set up their feet a lot. The big con is that the new Michelin sole doesn't break in all the way and become floppy like i like it. Additionally, the only impact protection is the insole, as right below it is the Michelin outsole. If durability is your number one concern, i would say go for these. If you like super floppy shoes however, i would say try something else. And if you jump down big stuff, make sure you have a good insole.

Etnies Marana Michelin Skate Shoes
Comfy and last, but very quickly the toe rand started peeling away from the suede. I squirt some super glue in to hold it a bit, but that was a bit discouraging to start coming apart even before there was any wear really starting. I like the sole and they don't feel like my feet are moving around in them. Usually I have to fight between having my feet shift around or tightening the laces down to the point where I get pinch points and hot spots.

If this shoe is just the Marana OG with Michelin rubber rather than the regular rubber compound they use, should I order the same size as my OG Marana?
I'm an 11.5 in the OG, 11 in the Marana Vulc and 11 in the Marana XT; I want to see if I need 11.5 or not.
Answered by Graig A (Tactics Employee) on 8/10/2017
These would be a similar fit to the OG and we would recommend ordering the same size you normally would in that.

How is the boardfeel on the shoe
Answered by Graig A (Tactics Employee) on 7/6/2017
These have good board feel but are still cupsole so it will be a little less than any other vulcanized shoe. But these are slimmed down for some extra feel

Asked by Dmar on 2/9/2013
Does this shoe run true to size/ width? I have heard it runs half a size small and you are better off ordering half a size larger than your normal shoe size. Is that true?
Answered by Daniel B (Tactics Employee) on 4/2/2013
This shoe runs true to size its just a little tight in the toe box on the sides but it will break in after a while.
